Frequently Asked Questions
When do children need to arrive at school and by what time should they be picked up?
Our school operates between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Children must arrive by 7:45 AM at the latest. We provide supervision for children in after-school care or study hall until 4:00 PM.
What kind of clothing is allowed for students at school?
Students are required to wear the school uniform, which can be purchased at the school. The uniform consists of a sweater, t-shirt, and pants. No deviations are allowed! You can find our catalogue at the this link
What are the rules for visiting the school?
Parents can accompany children only as far as the reception, and in the afternoon, children can be picked up there as well. For parent-related administrative matters, please arrange an appointment via one of our contact details: info@maarifschools.org
What is the difference between meeting hours for teacher and parents-teachers’ meeting days?
Teachers hold meeting hours every week, during which parents can schedule an appointment through the Kréta system if they have an urgent issue. Meetings can take place over the phone, online, or in person.
Parent-teacher meetings days are held twice a year, in November and April. On these occasions, parents can also schedule an appointment in advance (again through the Kréta system) to meet in person. All subject teachers are available on these days.
Is it allowed to bring cooked food to school?
Bringing cooked food from home is not allowed due to special regulations! For school events or class programs, homemade cakes cannot be brought. For unpackaged products, a receipt must be provided, and for packaged products, a label listing the ingredients and expiration date must be kept. Foods or drinks containing azo dyes are not allowed (these food colorings affect children's attention, so it is advisable to avoid them at home as well).
Who can I turn to if my child is having issues within the class community?
Primarily, you can turn to the class teacher or subject teachers.
Which subjects are taught in English?
In our school, the following subjects are taught in English:
- 1st grade: Design and Technology, Visual Culture, Music
- 5th-6th grades: History, Target Language Civilization, Science, Digital Culture, Physical Education
- 7th-12th grades: History, Target Language Civilization, Biology, Geography, Digital Culture, Physical Education
This means the language of instruction is English, but the teacher will assist students in Hungarian if needed.
